Bagnaia Wins Thailand Grand Prix
Francesco Bagnaia has achieved a significant victory as he wins the Thailand Grand Prix, cutting Jorge Martin’s championship lead to just 17 points with only two races remaining in the MotoGP season. The race, held at the Chang International Circuit in Buriram, saw Bagnaia, riding for Ducati, secure his ninth win of the season in challenging wet conditions.
Starting from pole position, Bagnaia initially slipped to third but quickly regained control, overtaking Martin on lap five. The race developed into an intense duel between Bagnaia and six-time champion Marc Marquez. However, Marquez’s race took a turn when he slid off the track on lap 14 of the 26-lap event. This incident allowed Bagnaia to maintain his lead over Martin, ultimately winning by nearly three seconds. Marquez managed to remount his bike, finishing in 12th place.
This victory not only boosts Bagnaia’s confidence but also significantly narrows the championship gap. Martin, competing for Pramac Racing, finished second, while fellow Spaniard Pedro Acosta secured third for Tech 3. In the previous sprint race on Saturday, Martin and Bagnaia finished second and third, respectively, with Ducati’s Enea Bastianini taking the top spot.
Championship Standings Update
With the Malaysian GP set to take place from November 1-3, followed by the season finale at the Valencia GP from November 15-17, the championship race is heating up. As the competition intensifies, both Bagnaia and Martin will be focused on performing at their best in the final races of the season.
