Brad Pauls has vowed to “get more belts” following his defeat to Denzel Bentley in the British middleweight title fight at Wembley Arena. The Cornish fighter, aged 31, suffered a unanimous points decision loss to the Londoner, who also claimed the European and WBO International belts, positioning him as the number one contender for the WBO world title.
Pauls Looks Ahead to More Belts Despite Bentley Defeat
Despite a slow start, Pauls rallied during the middle rounds but was ultimately overpowered by Bentley. The turning point came in the 10th round, where Bentley knocked Pauls down, later revealing that Pauls had fractured his left eye socket during the fall.
In an emotional message after the fight, Pauls expressed his disappointment but showed great respect for Bentley. “I tried my absolute best,” said Pauls. “Massive respect to Denzel Bentley, who’s a great fighter, definitely above British level.” The fighter, who now has a record of 19 wins, two losses, and a draw in 22 fights, admitted that his injury affected his performance. “I couldn’t see out of my eye afterwards,” he shared.
Pauls, however, remains positive, focusing on his future in the sport. “I know I can get more belts,” he added. His resolve to continue pushing forward, despite the setback, reflects his long-standing mindset of overcoming adversity. “I’ve got to lead by example. I’ll dust myself off, rebuild, and come back stronger like I always do.”
Challenges and Determination After Losing the Title
Pauls’ determination was evident throughout the fight, but Bentley’s dominance ultimately led to the victory. Despite the loss, promoter Frank Warren has promised to give Pauls more opportunities. “He comes to fight, he’s a fighter, he’s got a fighting heart,” Warren said. “It takes two guys to make a good fight, and that’s what it was.”
Pauls is now taking time to rest and recover. “That’s boxing, that’s how it goes sometimes,” he remarked. “I’ll let my eye heal up and then get back to work.” His goal of winning more titles remains unchanged, and fans can expect to see Pauls fighting for more belts in the future.
