Woods, a 15-time major winner, will compete with his Jupiter Links Golf Club team on January 14. This marks his first appearance since the Open Championship in July and follows his recent back surgery. Meanwhile, McIlroy, ranked third in the world, will make his debut with Boston Common Golf on January 27. The 15-match season kicks off with New York Golf Club, featuring Xander Schauffele and Rickie Fowler, taking on The Bay Golf Club’s Ludvig Aberg and Shane Lowry.
Teams and Schedule
The TGL Golf competition consists of six teams, each with four players. Notable teams include Atlanta Drive GC, featuring Justin Thomas and Patrick Cantlay, and Los Angeles GC, with Collin Morikawa and Justin Rose. The format involves a round-robin league, where each team plays five matches from January 7 to March 4. The top four teams advance to the playoffs, starting March 17. Matches consist of 15-hole contests split into alternate shots and singles play. Victory is determined by hole wins, with ties resolved by a nearest-the-pin contest.
The TGL Golf competition will be held entirely at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens for the 2025 season. Supported by TMRW Sports, the event has backing from Serena and Venus Williams, Stephen Curry, and Fenway Sports Group. This forward-thinking approach combines simulator shots with live-action greens, creating an exciting experience for players and fans alike.
