Astemo and NEC Exchange Thrilling Five-Set Victories in SV.League
In the 10th-leg of the women’s Daido Life SV.League in Japan, Astemo Rivale Ibaraki and NEC Red Rockets Kawasaki exchanged wins in two tough five-set battles. Astemo came from two sets down to win 3-2 (15-25, 12-25, 25-23, 29-27, 15-13) on Saturday, with outside hitter Kurumi Takama leading the way with 25 points. On Sunday, NEC bounced back with a 3-2 victory, as outside hitter Yoshino Sato’s 24 points helped secure the win.
On Sunday, NEC Red Rockets Kawasaki avenged their loss with a 3-2 (20-25, 25-23, 25-19, 22-25, 15-13) victory. Outside hitter Yoshino Sato led the charge with 24 points, including three blocks and an ace. NEC’s head coach Takayuki Kaneko was pleased with the team’s aggressive response after the second set. Despite the challenges posed by Astemo’s fast serves, NEC managed to clinch victory.
Astemo and NEC’s Performances in Women’s SV.League 10th-Leg Matches
Both teams remain highly competitive in the standings, with NEC in fourth place at 12-6, while Astemo follows in sixth with a 11-7 record.
This exciting series also saw PFU BlueCats Ishikawa Kahoku and Okayama Seagulls exchanging victories, and upsets from Saitama Ageo Medics and Victorina Himeji against Toray Arrows Shiga and Queenseis Kariya. At the top of the standings, Osaka Marvelous and Denso Airybees Koriyama secured comfortable wins to retain their positions.
